Fun Facts

Favourite place in the world: Definitely New York City. I have friends there and New York is always a place that inspires me to hustle harder. I have so many good memories of my time there. I love the energy of the place and that everyone there has something they want to achieve and do - and it gives me this feeling of home - that there’re other people that work as hard as I do (and nobody asks me why I’m not married!). I always come away thinking about my life, what I contribute to the world and the legacy I want to leave behind.

Your first pet: My cat, Mog, a little black and white cat I adopted from the RSPCA when I was about 4 years old. She was sassy, street smart and probably a little bit feral but she knew she was loved. She definitely inspired me to be a vet, especially when she got sick in her old age and at the time, I felt like the vets I saw weren’t doing a very good job. Of course, I thought I could do it better and that’s really what prompted me to go to Vet school. Growing up I felt like Mog was my best friend and life without her would have been very different. I think pets can be life changing for kids - especially when life gets rough.

Best Pet Moment: When I wake up in the morning and I’m covered in cats. They are all snuggled into the blankets and look up with tired little faces but with such love and I just think how lucky I am to be alive and be here.

My favourite past time: Shopping. I like to look at what designers are doing, how things are sewn and feel fabrics even if I don’t actually buy anything. I love Australian designers so I always go and wander in Paddington, Sydney on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon for hours (fashion capital of Sydney) and look at the little boutiques and artisan designers as well as the thrift shops (because I love them too). I often plan outfits in advance and I love finding interesting little pieces, vintage bags and fabulous shoes.

What do you enjoy most about your work on Bondi Vet: I love to tell stories. And Bondi Vet allows me to tell the stories of the pets and their owners. For me, it’s about sharing the emotion, the highs and lows and I love sharing that with the world - because they are real stories of real people!

If I wasn’t a vet, what would I be?

I’d do exactly as I do now. I’d be a business owner and entrepreneur. I love building things and I am a big thinker. I love thinking of what’s possible and doing it. Being a vet for me is just one part of my life. Building bondi vet hospital is the other and I get a real kick out of coming into Bondi Vet each morning and seeing this amazing hospital with many talented vets and nurses and thinking - I actually built all this. It’s a good feeling. What am I going to build next? I guess time will tell but I’ve got another business in me before I call it a day.
