Meet Dr Michael Yazbeck

One of his clients said: "Michael practices on the south coast so he's got beach vetting down pat! He's the most kind, compassionate and knowledgeable vet I know and will go above and beyond for clients and their pets. Michael is the ideal package for a TV vet - intelligent, attractive and musically gifted!"

"Sun's out, puns out?
Show us what you've got, Dr Michael!"

Cynthia, be careful what you ask for. I have so many puns up my sleeve. Here is one I managed to sneak into the clinic the other day..

Question from ben7:
Do people ever think you know less about animals being a younger vet?
Would they ever compare you to an older vet and does that bother you? :) btw you're the best vet I know :)

My question for you is how do you stay so positive and put on a brave face for clients when behind the scenes theres stressful cases that can take hold of your day?
I envy your positivity at work and you always lift the rest of the team when needed.

Thanks Denzie! Our days can easily become really stressful when there are critically ill animals or a huge overload of cases, and we've always got a million things running through our minds to make sure every one is looked after and everything is done. What keeps me positive are all our 'wins' - those moments our patients make that awesome recovery and get reunited with their loving owners. Especially when it's touch and go. That feeling of accomplishment stays with me for a long time and definitely helps keep me going! It can be hard making that quick transition from dealing with really sick patients, to performing surgery, to euthanasing someone's beloved pet, then to a brand new puppy or kitten consultation. Lots of highs and lows in a short amount of time! I'm always aware that no matter what my day has been like, my consultation with a client and their pet is the first interaction they've had with me and our clinic that day so I do my best to make sure I am totally present to help every new patient, whether it's the first or last consult of the day.

How do you support new graduates and vet students within the industry, especially when it comes to stress and mental health issues?

Dr Michael makes both me and my pup feel comfortable whenever he's around. His dedication to caring for animals shines in everything he does. He's super easy going and always makes me laugh when I come in with his great puns and sense of humour.

Dr Michael saved my 10 week old kitten from feline parvo when we thought she wasn't going to make it! He really cares about the animals he sees and goes beyond to make sure they are ok. He is fun and knowledgeable and would make a great Bondi Vet!

Thanks for sharing Sam! Nymeria was such a fighter and pulled through despite all odds. It's awesome to see her doing so well thanks to your continued care at home. She's a little patient I won't forget! Looking forward to our next check up :)
