I adopted a 9 year old smooth fox terrier and she is losing a lot of fur every day. I Brush her two times per day but isn't enough, I only see fur on my floor. I give her vitamins (virbac Nutri-plus gel) and a good quality food (nature diet by Dingo). Could you help me?
I'm looking at getting a Maremma pup. I live in a rural area near the coast. I would like to take the pup walking on the beach and hopefully swimming, as it gets hot at the beach. Should I choose a different breed ? The dog needs to be social enough to cope with beach goers.
Hi there I was wondering if you would be interested in doing a storey on my Saluki who has had a reoccurring pneumonia. We are based in WA but I would be more than happy to bring her to NSW to help us find some answers. We have spent $27,000 on diagnostics and hospitalisation over the last 12 months trying to cure her. She is currently on antibiotics which keep it at bay but you take them away and within a week she cannot oxygenate and has to be hospitalised on oxygen while the antibiotics work again. I fear we are living life on the edge as we cannot miss a tablet or she starts coughing again but while she is on the medication she is living a very full and happy life. It would be amazing if you could help us cure her or even just do a story on the condition as it took some time to get to the bottom of what was going on.I have full vet records and a time line if you are interested.I may be biased but she is also a very pretty and good natured dog. Everyone loves her so she would make good viewing too!Thank you for your consideration.Kind regards Samantha Unstead Phone 0400400165
Hi, We have a 6 month old puppy, Barney (unsure of breed, but possibly staffy X bulldog) and when he was playing with his brother (45kg Mastiff) he hurt his back left leg. After 2 weeks of the leg not improving we got an X-ray that showed a defect in his hip, either hereditry or from a fracture that stopped blood flow when he was first born. We have had a Vet look at it and we are tossing up our options. We are thinking amputation may be the best option for us financially (as myself and my husband both run our own business) and realistic for Barney to live a long pain free life. Barney doesn't appear to be in pain all the time, however won't put too much/no weight on his back left leg. We can't go for a big walk and he can't seem to run and play for long without pain or his limp becoming worse. We are currently taking pain relief to manage pain. As it seems to be getting worse every day he grows I would love to do something about it sooner rather than later to he can adapt while he is still young, especially if amputation is the best option. Just contacting to ask if you think this is the best option or have any other suggestions for us or any advice on a vet that could help us out. We live in Newcastle, NSW. We are more than happy to travel for him to receive the best care and a picture of the X-ray can be provided. Anything you could suggest would be greatly appreciated, Erica
So my small dog of about 8 years , keeps on attacking lizards, before she would only bark at them and get very close but recently she attacked one when we were at home, and recently we had found one dead in our backyard. How can I prevent and stop my dog from attaching and harming these reptiles such as blue tongues and other large lizards, as I am afraid of her harming more of them or trying to attack a snake.
I have a 12 year old male Russell Terrier x Bichon Frise, and when he sleeps, he will act out his dreams to the point of throwing himself off the couch and biting people near him in his sleep. He never used to do this and it is quite alarming as he could injur himself or others. When this happens he eventually wakes up and looks very disoriented and confused, not to mention he cannot get a restful sleep. This has been happening for the past 6-9 months. When he was younger, when he slept you would often see him move his paw or bark a little as he dreamt, but now he is full on throwing himself around the room whilst still in a dream-like state. Please help!
