When can my puppy go outside?

I have read a lot of things about dogs getting sick if they are taken for walks too early. When is the right time for me to take my little french mastiff outside?

Puppies usually have two rounds of vaccinations before they are able to go outside. So it depends on when they get them. Check with your vet though to be safe

Hi swhite, great question.

Your puppy needs socialisation, especially between the ages of 6 and 17 weeks but even a vaccinated puppy cannot be guaranteed to have effective immunity until 1 week after their 2nd puppy booster. For this reason you should avoid public areas like parks and shopping strips until your vet says its okay. In the meantime your puppy should only socialise with other dogs and puppies that have known vaccination status.
