Campsite basics to ensure your pet has as good a time as you
Taking your pet on holiday and even more so a camping holiday can be one of the most rewarding experiences. Being in the outdoors amongst natural surrounding pets are at their very best.
To get the most out of your camping trip we have the following tips to help you.

Tip 1. Firstly, it goes without saying but check whether the campsite permits pets. If it does, check for the on-site facilities to ensure your dog has a safe and comfortable environment e.g., bathing areas, play areas, walking tracks and plenty of space.

Tip 2: As a good pet parent, ensure your dog had had all the necessary vaccinations, flea, tick and worming treatments and can comply with any campsite regulations regarding camping with dogs.

Tip 3: Plan carefully for all the items you need for your pet: food, treats, a bed & blanket, toys, a ground stake, extra long lead / rope.

Tip 4: Depending on the weather, the key thing to look out for on camp is whether your dog is cool or warm. Does it have appropriate shade, plenty of water or a warm and dry place to rest, particularly on the very cool nights.

Tip 5: If you have an anxious or insecure dog it is recommended that they share your tent / caravan until they feel settled and can sleep on their own. Keeping them close in an unfamiliar environment is the key.

Tip 6: If you have a dog that is prone to a lot of barking, especially at night, our simple recommendation is don’t take them – it will make for an unpleasant stay for everyone.
