7 benefits of bringing pets to school

Classroom animals are a great way for teachers to make learning more fun. There are many benefits for having a pet in class, but it does take real responsibility to ensure the pet is appropriately cared for and loved. Some of the benefits of pets in class are as follows:

  • Benefit 1: Pets provide alternative ways for kids to learn in subjects like maths, science and geography eg – what is the weight of animal, what does a particular pet eat or where in the world does this pet come from?

  • Benefit 2: Children who do not have a pet get the opportunity to see, feel and touch an animal and this enriches their curiosity.

  • Benefit 3: Showing how to care for an animal demonstrates a sense of responsibility and respect for life.

  • Benefit 4: Is that a classroom pet is a very good way of improving school attendance.

  • Benefit 5: Exposure to pets has proven to improve a kid’s immune system.

  • Benefit 6: A pet, including a classroom pet, is found to support emotional wellbeing when a kid is feeling down and can boost self-esteem.

  • Benefit 7: By helping care for the classroom pet it teaches kids the importance of responsibility.

As you can see, there are many great benefits for having pets in class and allowing kids to strengthen relationships with them gives them the potential to do better at school.
